#288 – A Blind Friend Walks Down Your Favorite Street…

…Describe the journey through the sounds they hear.

The tapping of Dave’s cane against the pavement is dwarfed by the sound of the hustle and bustle of people passing him by.  The traffic is fairly heavy, which is normal for this time of a day.  Dave hears the familiar hiss of air brakes going off next to him and across the street, letting him know that it is half past the hour.  More people come and go, chatting amongst themselves or listening to music on headphones as they transfer buses.  Not to far from him, the shrill cry calls out.  Each one is a second apart from the last, letting people like himself know that it is safe to cross the street.  Hydraulics hiss loudly and the rumbling of the buses fill the air as they begin their next circuit around the city.

It’s the sound of civilization.  People coming and going to work or school.  Meeting up to connect with others or take part in the wonderful world of commercialism.  It reminds Dave that there’s life beyond the perpetual darkness that he lives in.

Behind the Random: Another day of rush rush rush, leaving little time to write.  This one was harder than I thought it would be, in no small part because I had no idea people had favorite streets.  I just picked the first one that popped into my head, which is the bus terminal area downtown.  Then it was a matter of trying to hear all the sounds without visualizing it.  Do not want!
