#538 – Name All the Places in a House…
…where family members hide things from one another.
Richard wasn’t too crafty with his hiding spots. The glove compartment or the trunk of his car. Sometimes even the bottom of his dresser drawer. He didn’t really care if anyone found his hidden gems. He was a simple man that didn’t have many secrets that needed protecting. So what if someone found his stash of skin mags. He was ashamed of them. He was a man after all.
Erica had her hiding spots, but she only usually utilized them around birthdays and Christmas to hide presents from the others. In old boxes in the storage closet that nobody ever goes through to that old chest in the backyard shed. For smaller gifts, she had hidden compartments in her jewelry case. Also a great place to hide her cheat candy when she diets.
Darren only had one hiding spot. It was actually a pretty crafty spot that was big and hidden in plain sight. He would take his bottom drawer out and put his valued possessions in there to prevent his little sister from stealing them from his room. It didn’t always work, but it certainly slowed her down.
Daria was the Easter egg queen though. Every hole, every nook, every dark place was just another spot to stick her secrets. Most of them weren’t hers, stole away from around the house. She was like a ferret, collecting all the shiny things she could get her hands on and hiding them away. Amazingly, she always knew were everything she took was, if you knew to ask her. It was just a matter of whether she would tell you…
Behind the Random: Having hiding spots in my house is one of the most difficult tasks in the world. My wife has uncanny luck stumbling across anything I try to hide from her and my stepdaughter has a bizarre Daredevil-like radar sense when it comes to finding things she shouldn’t know about. The only success I have is the trunk of an old car we have out front and that’s only because it’s locks. So now I hide my things in plain sight. It’s just easier that way.
